Veronica DiPippo
Writer, Director
Veronica is an award-winning screenwriter,
filmmaker and playwright. Her "karmic komedy" short "Dandelion
Dharma" won the coveted Audience Award for Best Live Action Short
at the 2009 Palm Springs International ShortFest, considered to be one
of the top five festivals for short films in the world. "Dharma"
was recently honored with a special screening of award-winning, international
shorts presented by America Cinematheque at Hollywood's historic Egyptian
Theater. Having screened at festivals across the country, "Dharma"
continues its festival run in 2010.
Veronica's previous short
"Nightsweats," premiered at the Filmmakers Alliance Vision
Awards at the Director's Guild of America as part of an evening honoring
film director Allison Anders. "Nightsweats" went on to screen
at numerous festivals and garner nominations for Best Short at Syracuse
International Film Festival, Shockerfest and Frightfest.
Veronica is prominently featured in an
upcoming documentary called "Follow the Filmmaker" produced by Shorts
International and slated to air on their U.S./U.K. HD Channel in 2010.
As a screenwriter, she has worked with
studios and independents including Disney Feature, DisneyToons, Four
Moons, Basic Films U.K., Bullet Heart, Exile Productions and her own
production company, Crunch Entertainment. Her feature film project
"Sonnet" is currently being packaged for production by Dune Entertainment
(Avatar, X-Men Origins, The A-Team).
As a playwright, over thirty productions
of her plays and one-acts have been produced at theatres across the
country including Riverside Shakespeare Company (New York), The Writers
Theatre (New York), The Academy of Media and Theatre Arts (San Francisco),
The Nat Horne (New York), The Complex (Los Angeles), Musical Theatreworks
(New York), American Globe Theatre (New York), The Buckhead Theatre
(Atlanta) and the Odessa Theatre (Los Angeles). She has directed
numerous original works including "Sins of the Father" at The Met
Theatre, Los Angeles and "Off-the-Wall" at the Writers Theatre,
New York, and classics such as August Wilson's "Fences."
Veronica will be directing her new play "Lulu's Last Stand," slated
for October, 2010 production at Theatre 40 in Los Angeles.
Veronica began her career as an actor
with John Strasberg's Mirror Repertory Company in New York City where
she also studied acting with fellow company member Geraldine Page.
She is a graduate of The Drama Studio, London at Berkeley and SUNY where
she holds a degree in writing for film and television.
Currently represented by Lee Keele at Gersh, Veronica is a member of the WGA, Women In Film, and The Alliance of Women Directors.
